                       October 1, 2016 - The Funkmonster Band is amazing. This is the second year in a row they have performed for the 1st USV Cavalry Rough Riders at our Change of Command Ball, and we couldn't be happier. From the first song they played, until the last, people headed for the dance floor. I highly recommend them if you are in search of a great band. I don't even know where to begin...they were beyond incredible!!! We had a very small wedding (about 33 people) and I was a little worried about a big band being too theatrical for such a small group, but my family and friends had the greatest time! Everyone danced the night away! We made sure we had all funk music and it was really perfect for a wedding as I think it was better to get everyone dancing. Richard is also a wonderful leader for the band. I live in Minnesota and contacted Richard back in February about them playing at my wedding. I wasn't sure if the venue was big enough to hold a band and he took time out for his schedule to check out our venue to see if it would work. He was also very responsive to emails and calls and so easy to work with. If you want to ensure that you and your guests are dancing and having a great time from beginning to end the funkmonster band won't dissapoint! Because let us tell you - The FM's blew everyone, old and young, out of the water at our January 2015 Key West Wedding Jam. If you're into old-school rhythm & blues, funk, classic rock, etc., please, keep reading. We are both avid music lovers, we wanted to bring something DIFFERENT to the stage and researched endlessly in hopes of finding the right group for us. We put our complete trust into the hands of The FM's starting with the actual ceremony. To say they were 100% spot-on, would be a severe understatement. This band makes Marvin, James, and Carlos, incredibly proud. The FM's were incredibly easy to work with and understood exactly what it was we were looking for. We were a little late in getting song choices into their hands, but it didn't matter; Richard already came up with a setlist - which had 15 of the 18 songs we chose. Considering they have a menu over 200, that only goes to show that Richard's talent and understanding is spot on. We even threw some Soundcloud Remixes their way and they hammered them all with the air of true artistry (search JB's "Papa Was A Rolling Stone" by DJ Stan-Ley & "I Feel Good" by PaysBass). As for the traditional wedding tunes of Etta's, "At Last" and The Isley's, "Shout", Funk Monster's pipes alone had passersby at the Key West Garden Club, literally crashing our Jam. What truly made the night most memorable though, was the band's rendition of Louis Armstrong's, "La Vie En Rose", that we chose for the walk down the aisle.
